California Highway Patrol Officer Among 4 People Injured in Natomas Crash on Interstate 80 near Reed Avenue

Natomas, California (January 7, 2021) – Four people including a California Highway Patrol officer were injured in an early Friday morning alleged DUI crash in Natomas, authorities said.
The collision occurred at about 3:10 a.m. along Interstate 80, east of Reed Avenue.
According to the California Highway Patrol, an Acura RDX, a compact SUV, driven by William Letson, 33, of Sacramento, was headed westbound on Interstate 80 when it crashed into the back of a Toyota Prius.
The crash impact reportedly pushed the Prius to the right shoulder, where it struck a CHP vehicle.
Following the collision, Letson's vehicle stopped in the westbound lanes, where it was hit by an Acura TL.
CHP Officer Injured in Interstate 80 Collision
The CHP officer, whose name was not immediately disclosed, was transported to a hospital and is expected to be fine.
Three other parties were also injured in the accident.
Letson was arrested on DUI-related charges, one of them including a charge for driving with a Blood Alcohol Concentration of .08% or greater and causing injury.
Further details regarding the collision were not immediately given.
The crash remains under investigation.
