San Diego Woman Killed, 2 Women Injured in Head-On Collision on Dehesa Road in Dehesa

Dehesa, California (January 10, 2022) – Authorities are investigating a Sunday afternoon traffic accident that killed a 74-year-old woman and left two other women injured in Dehesa, East County.

The deadly accident occurred at around 3:30 p.m., on January 9, on Dehesa Road west of Sloane Canyon Road.

According to the California Highway Patrol, a 2019 Chrysler minivan, driven by a 46-year-old woman, collided head-on with a 2003 Honda Civic, operated by a 30-year-old woman, on Dehesa Road near Harbison Canyon Road.

The Honda Civic was reportedly headed eastbound before it drove across double-yellow lines, into the westbound lanes, where it collided head-on with the Chrysler.

Sadly, the 74-year-old San Diego woman, who was a passenger in the Chrysler was pronounced dead at the scene. The name of the victim was being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

The sedan driver sustained major injuries while the minivan driver had minor injuries. Both motorists were transported to a hospital for treatment.

The 30-year-old woman, who was suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol, was hospitalized with major injuries. The 46-year-old woman was also taken to a hospital with moderate injuries.

No other details were given.

An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
