, California (January 10, 2022) – A 56-year-old man was killed and four other people were injured in a collision that occurred on Sunday afternoon in San Marcos, according to the sheriff's department.

The incident occurred on South Santa Fe Avenue near Smilax Road at around 4:10 p.m. January 9.

A silver Toyota minivan and a blue Scion sedan were involved in the crash east of Palomar College.

One Killed in San Marcos Collision on South Santa Fe Avenue 

The driver of the sedan was transported to Palomar Medical Center, where he later succumbed to his injuries. His name has not been disclosed pending family notification.

Four occupants of the minivan were transported to Palomar Medical Center and Rady Children's Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The identities of the involved parties were not immediately available.

It is undetermined if speed or alcohol were suspected factors in the crash.

The cause of the crash remained under investigation.
