Malik Blakeney ID'd as Driver Killed after Car, Semi-Truck Collide at Temperance Avenue and North Avenue in Fowler Monday evening

Fresno County, California (January 12, 2022) – The Fresno County Coroner's Office has identified the driver who died Monday evening following a collision between a car and a semi-truck at an intersection near Fowler as Malik Blakeney, 26, of Fresno.
The deadly crash occurred at about 6:00 p.m. Monday, January 10 at the intersection of Temperance Avenue and North Avenue, the California Highway Patrol reported.
According to the CHP, Blakeney was driving a Hyundai northbound on Temperance Avenue when he failed to stop for a stop sign at the intersection and entered the westbound lane of North Avenue directly into the path of a big rig that was transporting lemons
The truck ultimately struck the right front passenger door of the Hyundai. After the collision, the Hyundai veered into a nearby orchard while the truck spilled the lemons onto the roadway.
Victim of Fatal Fowler Collision Identified as Fresno Man
Blakeney was declared dead at the scene.
The 58-year-old driver of the truck did not suffer any injuries.
The area of Temperance Avenue and North Avenue was blocked while the investigation and cleanup took place.
No further details were given.
An investigation into the crash is underway.
