11-Year-Old Girl Killed in Twentynine Palms Collision on Desert Knoll Avenue and Twentynine Palms Highway

Twentynine Palms, California (January 13, 2022) – A girl died in a tragic car accident at an intersection in Twentynine Palms on Saturday afternoon, according to police.
The collision was between a Chevrolet Suburban and a Volvo and occurred at around 3:50 p.m. January 8.
According to the police, the Chevrolet driver failed to stop for a stop sign at the intersection of Desert Knoll Avenue and Twentynine Palms Highway and collided with a Volvo.
The impact caused the Chevrolet to roll over, ejecting an 11-year-old girl.

The girl was trapped under the Chevrolet, which rolled over her.
Bystanders helped to lift the car and rendered aid to the girl until medics arrived.
The girl was taken to Hi-Desert Medical Center by Morongo Basin Ambulance and later airlifted to Loma Linda University Medical Center with critical injuries.
Police said the girl succumbed to her injuries at the hospital.
The child's mother was transported to Loma Linda University Medical Center for treatment of her injuries.
The operator of the Volvo was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries.
An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
