27-Year-Old Woman Killed in Yuba City Crash on Highway 20 near West Butte Road

Yuba City, California (January 15, 2022) – A two-vehicle collision has claimed the life of a 27-year-old Yuba City woman Saturday morning west of Yuba City, authorities said.
The deadly crash happened shortly before 7:15 a.m. on Highway 20 over the Sutter Bypass Bridge, just west of West Butte Road.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the 27-year-old Yuba City woman was driving eastbound on Highway 20 when she lost control of her 2018 Toyota Corolla, which spun out on the two-lane highway.
A 2006 GMC Sierra traveling westbound at approximately 55 miles per hour swerved to the left in an attempt to avoid a collision but ended up hitting the passenger side of the Toyota.
The Toyota sustained major damage upon the impact.
Deadly Car Crash on Highway 20 in Yuba City
The Toyota driver was pronounced dead at the crash site. Her name was being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
The driver of the GMC, a 34-year-old man, also from Yuba City, did not suffer any injuries in the collision.
The CHP officers temporarily closed Highway 20 for over one hour while they conduct an investigation. It is undetermined if alcohol and/or drugs were a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation.
