At Least 1 Injured in Kern County Crash on Highway 178 near Upper Richbar Picnic Area
Kern County, California (January 16, 2022) – At least one person was seriously injured in a two-vehicle collision in Kern County on Friday evening, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The incident occurred on Highway 178 near the Upper Richbar Picnic Area at around 6:53 p.m. January 14.
CHP said two vehicles collided on the westbound side of Highway 178. It's unclear what caused the crash.

Emergency crews responded to the incident and attended to the parties involved in the accident.
At least one person with major injuries was transported to Kern Medical Center.
The crash caused a closure of the westbound lanes of Highway 178 for the investigation.
The cause of the crash remained under investigation.
