1 Killed in Paramount Car Crash on 105 Freeway near Garfield Avenue

Paramount, California (January 17, 2022) – One person was killed in a fiery multi-vehicle accident that happened Monday morning in Paramount, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The collision was reported at about 3:20 a.m. on Glenn Anderson (105) Freeway, just east of Garfield Avenue.
Witnesses told authorities that a Toyota Prius was fully engulfed in the HOV lane with the driver still inside.
Emergency crews rushed to the scene to help the motorists.
One person was pronounced dead at the scene at 3:35 a.m., as per CHP Officer Patrick Kimball. It was not clear if there were parties injured in the crash.
Authorities did not immediately establish the cause or manner of the collision.
All eastbound lanes of the freeway west of the Long Beach (710) Freeway were shut down. Traffic was being diverted off at Garfield Avenue. The Nos. 4 and 5 lanes were reopened at around 5 a.m.
An investigation is underway.
