Joel Almeida Injured in Fatal Twentynine Palms Accident on Indian Trail and Morongo Road
Twentynine Palms, California (January 20, 2022) – 49-year-old Joel Almeida of Gaithersburg was among several people hospitalized after a deadly collision in Twentynine Palms on Thursday.
According to authorities, the incident happened on Indian Trail at Morongo Road at around 6:10 p.m.
Authorities said Almeida was driving southbound on Morongo Road in a black 2019 Nissan Pathfinder when he was struck on the passenger side by a black 2007 Chevrolet Silverado traveling eastbound on the Indian Trail.

A passenger in the Nissan, Christiellen Almeida, 47, was transported to Hi-Desert Medical Center in Joshua Tree, where she was later pronounced deceased.
Joel Almeida sustained moderate injuries and was taken to Hi-Desert.
A 12-year-old girl in the Nissan was transported to Desert Regional with moderate injuries while a 6-year-old boy was taken to Loma Linda Medical Center with major injuries.
The driver of the Chevrolet, Anthony Reinke, 32, of Yucca Valley, was transported to MCAGCC base hospital with moderate injuries.
The California Highway Patrol is investigating the collision.
