Austin Vargas Injured in Humboldt County Car Crash on State Route 255 near Startare Drive
Humboldt County, California (January 26, 2022) – Austin Vargas, 23, of Eureka, was injured after being involved in a deadly car crash in Humboldt County on Monday night, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The incident happened on State Route 255 near Startare Drive at around 8:50 p.m. Monday, January 24.
According to CHP, Dwayne Faughn, 49, of Samoa, was driving a 2000 Lexus south on SR 255 when he collided head-on with an oncoming 2020 Jeep.
Shortly after, a southbound 2008 Ford collided into the crashed vehicles.
Faughn was pronounced deceased at the scene due to the crash.
A six-year-old girl who was a passenger in the Lexus and the two occupants of the Jeep sustained major injuries. All three patients were taken to St. Joseph Hospital for treatment.
Vargas, who was the operator of the Ford, was treated at the scene for minor injuries.
