James Wilborn ID'd as Man Killed in Gerber Crash on Highway 99W near Chard Avenue
Gerber, California (January 26, 2022) – Authorities have identified the man who died Friday morning following a traffic collision in Gerber as James Wilborn, 83, of Clear Lake.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident took place on Highway 99W south of Chard Avenue at about 10:15 a.m. January 21.
CHP said Victor Baus, 81, of Gerber, was driving a 2003 Toyota Tacoma north on Highway 99W when he tried to make a left turn into a private drive and struck a 1995 Honda driven by Wilborn.
Victim Killed in Fatal Gerber Collision on Highway 99W Identified
Wilborn was taken by ambulance to St. Elizabeth Community Hospital with major injuries and was pronounced deceased at the hospital.
Baus was transported to St. Elizabeth Community Hospital in Red Bluff with minor injuries.
The CHP is conducting an investigation into the collision.
