County, California (February 1, 2022) – One person was hospitalized after a collision involving a CAL Fire engine in Madera County on Monday night, according to a report by the California Highway Patrol.

CHP said a white car collided with the engine for unknown reasons.

The incident took place on Road 36 and Avenue 13 on Monday, January 31.

The fire engine had two firefighters inside, who were expected to be ok.

The driver of the car was reportedly unresponsive after the fiery collision and was flown to Community Regional Medical Center for treatment.

Authorities believe the driver of the car was not wearing their safety belt and was under the influence when the collision occurred.

An investigation into the incident is underway.
