Driver Hospitalized with Major Injuries after Riverside Car Crash near Palmyrita and Michigan Avenues

Riverside, California (February 2, 2022) – A 20-year-old Riverside man was hospitalized in critical condition Tuesday after crashing into a big rig that was stopped to make a left turn in east Riverside, as per a local news source.
The incident occurred just before 10 p.m. near Palmyrita Avenue and Michigan Avenue.
The Riverside Police Department said the Riverside man was driving a Chevrolet Colorado pickup truck west on Palmyrita, and it seems he did not notice a big rig in front of him coming to a stop in the No. 1 lane to make a left turn into a construction area.
The pickup truck driver failed to slow down for the tractor-trailer and ended up rear-ending it.
The Riverside man sustained serious life-threatening injuries in the crash. Paramedics transported him to Riverside Community Hospital in critical condition.
The driver of the big rig was not injured.
Investigators do not believe alcohol or drugs played a role in the accident.
