Recology Driver Hospitalized after Santa Rosa DUI Crash on Ludwig Avenue near South Wright Road

Santa Rosa, California (February 3, 2022) – A worker was injured after a suspected drunken driver slammed into a waste hauling truck that was stopped on the road on the outskirts of Santa Rosa on Wednesday morning, the California Highway Patrol said.
The collision occurred just before 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, February 2, on Ludwig Avenue, just west of South Wright Road.
According to the CHP, the driver of a GMC, an employee for the waste hauling company Recology, was loading litter from the right shoulder of the road into the back of the truck.
The CHP said the GMC had overhead flashing warning lights and hazard lights on. A Toyota Tundra traveling westbound veered to the right and rear-ended the truck.
The force of the impact pushed the truck into the Recology employee, who was walking along the right side of the truck.
