Song Xiuming ID'd as 1 of 2 Killed in Gustine Crash on Interstate 5 at Highway 140

Gustine, California (February 3, 2022) – One of the two people who died Tuesday afternoon following a traffic collision involving a big rig west of Gustine has been identified as Song Xiuming, 68.
The deadly crash took place at around 2:14 p.m. Tuesday, February 1, at the intersection of Interstate 5 and Highway 140, the California Highway Patrol reported.
According to the CHP, Xiuming was driving a 2011 Hyundai Sonata northbound on the Interstate 5 off-ramp and stopped for a red light at the intersection with Highway 140 while a 2020 Peterbilt, driven by Brett Cico, 40, of Delhi, was traveling eastbound on Highway 140.
For an undetermined reason, the Hyundai entered the eastbound lane of Highway 140 directly in the path of the Peterbilt. The front of the Peterbilt ultimately collided with the front left side of the Hyundai.
The Hyundai sustained major damage and the Peterbilt acquired moderate damage.

Xiuming and his passenger were pronounced dead at the scene.
Cico did not suffer any injuries in the crash.
Drugs or alcohol were not considered a factor in the crash.
The accident remains under investigation.
