One Seriously Hurt in Otay Mesa Accident on Avenida De La Fuente
Otay Mesa, California (February 9, 2022) – A driver was hospitalized with major injuries after colliding head-on with a semi-truck in Otay Mesa on Tuesday night, according to the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department.
At around 7:50 p.m. February 8, authorities responded to a collision between a pickup truck and a semi-truck in the 8400 block of Avenida De La Fuente, just north of the U.S.-Mexico border.
The two collided head-on for unknown reasons.
Firefighters responded to the scene and rescued the driver of the truck, who was trapped in the vehicle.
One Airlifted after Otay Mesa Crash on Avenida De La Fuente
The driver was then airlifted to a hospital for treatment of unspecified injuries.
A diesel spill from the big rig was cleared by the hazmat crew.
The cause of the collision is under investigation.
