, California (February 21, 2022) – The County Coroner's Office identified the 12-year-old boy who died in an off-road crash in Apple Valley as Isaiah Rocha.

The crash occurred at around 9:15 a.m. Sunday near Central Road and Stoddard Wells Road.

California Highway Patrol officers responded to the scene shortly after receiving reports of the crash.

Rocha died at 10:12 a.m. at the emergency department of Providence St. Mary Medical Center, where he had been rushed for treatment.

Authorities did not mention the manner of the accident. However, a family member who spoke with a local news source said Rocha was on a dirt bike next to his campsite when the crash happened. As per the family member, an adult driving a CanAm attempted to avoid hitting the boy, and both swerved to the right causing them to crash head-on. His helmet flew off before hitting the ground.

An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
