Mathew Romo ID'd as Man Killed in Arrow Highway Collision

Irwindale, California (February 22, 2022) – The man who died Monday afternoon following a traffic collision in Irwindale has been identified as Mathew Romo, 25, of Covina.
The crash happened at around 4:30 p.m. Monday, February 21, on Arrow Highway at Gayhurst Street.
Police said Romo was driving eastbound on Arrow Highway when his 2019 Kia collided with a 2016 Ford pickup truck that was making a left turn from westbound Arrow Highway to southbound Gayhurst Street.
The Kia then hit a Southern California Edison utility pole.
Romo was declared dead at the scene.
A female passenger in the Kia was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The pickup truck driver was not injured and stopped at the scene to cooperate with the police.
Arrow Highway was blocked between Elton and Lante streets.
It is undetermined if drugs or alcohol were a factor in the collision.
