10-Month-Old Liam Gonzalez ID'd as Victim of Helendale Fatal Car Crash on National Trails Highway and Hodge Road

Helendale, California (February 22, 2022) – The passenger who died Monday night following a head-on collision in Helendale has been identified as 10-month-old Liam Gonzalez, a resident of Helendale.
The deadly crash occurred at around 8:16 p.m. on February 21 on National Trails Highway and Hodge Road.
Authorities said a semi-truck collided head-on with a pick-up truck under unclear circumstances.
Gonzalez, who was a passenger in the pick-up truck, died at the scene of the crash.
The other two occupants of the pick-up truck, Liam's mother and his teenage sister, were trapped in the wreckage and were extricated by firefighters.
Liam's mother was airlifted to Antelope Valley Hospital while his teenage sister was flown to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center. Their current condition was not available.
Police closed National Trails Highway in both directions following the wreck.
The California Highway Patrol Barstow station is investigating the cause of the crash.
