Man Dies in Castaic Car Crash on Golden State (5) Freeway near State Route 126

Castaic, California (February 23, 2022) – A man was killed in a crash involving two vehicles in the Castaic area on Tuesday night.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a 23-year-old Castaic man was driving a 2002 Volkswagen Golf northbound on the Golden State (5) Freeway when he slammed into the concrete center median for unknown reasons.
The Volkswagen became disabled in the roadway and was struck on the left side by a 2019 Hyundai Ioniq.
The accident took place at around 10:10 p.m. February 22.

The driver of the Volkswagen died in the crash.
The other motorist, a 42-year-old Sylmar man, sustained minor injuries.
An investigation to determine the cause of the accident is ongoing.
