, California (February 28, 2022) – Authorities have identified the woman who died on Sunday afternoon following a broad-side collision at an intersection in Moreno Valley as Maria Mejia, 58, of Moreno Valley,

The incident took place on Indian Street and Delphinium Avenue just before 4:50 p.m. on February 28.

According to the report, a black Dodge Ram was heading north on Indian Street when it broad-sided a gold Toyota Solana, driven by Mejia, who was traveling westbound on Delphinium Avenue.

After the collision, the Toyota careened across the road and came to a rest on the north side of the intersection.

The County firefighters responded to the scene and extricated Mejia, who was trapped in the vehicle.

Mejia was then rushed to a hospital, where she was pronounced deceased.

The other motorist reportedly stayed at the scene after the accident.

Authorities believe alcohol may have been a factor in the collision. The investigation is ongoing.
