Jose Robledo Killed in Merced County Crash on I-5 near Highway 140
Merced County, California (March 3, 2022) – The man who died in a traffic collision last month on Interstate 5 in Merced County has been identified as Jose Robledo, 23, of Dos Palos, according to the Merced County Coroner's Office.
The collision took place south of Highway 140 at around 6:30 a.m. February 24, as Robledo was driving a 2013 Volkswagen Passat northbound on Interstate 5.
CHP said he was traveling at about 80-85 mph when he changed lanes and tried to slow down to avoid a vehicle traveling in front of him.

However, Robledo lost control and drifted onto the right shoulder, where he crashed into a 2019 International tractor that was parked along the road.
Robledo was pronounced deceased at the scene following the crash.
The occupants of the big rig were not injured.
The incident is under investigation by the CHP.
