Ashley Engen Seriously Injured in Fresno County Accident at Mt. Whitney Avenue and Cedar Street

Fresno County, California (March 6, 2022) – Ashley Engen, 35, of Hanfford was seriously hurt in a deadly collision at an intersection in Fresno county on Saturday morning, according to California Highway Patrol.
A 2020 Lexus sedan and a 2016 Honda Accord were involved in the collision at Mt. Whitney Avenue and Cedar Street just after 7 a.m.
CHP said Engen was driving the Lexus northbound on Cedar Street when she failed to stop for a stop sign and was broadsided by the Honda, which was traveling west on Mt. Whitney Avenue.
Both vehicles then left the roadway and slammed through a chain link fence, ending up in the lot of a nearby property.
The Lexus reportedly flipped multiple times and came to a rest on its wheels.

The driver of the Honda was identified as Leticia Cardona, 40, of Laton.
Cardona's 14-year-old daughter, who was a passenger in her vehicle, died in the accident.
Both Engen and Cardona were taken to Community Regional Medical Center in downtown Fresno for treatment of major injuries.
A passenger in Engen's vehicle, her 15-year-old daughter, was flown to Community Regional Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.
Authorities said alcohol and drugs were not believed to have played a role in the collision.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
