Motorcyclist Killed in Dublin Crash on 580 Freeway near Dougherty Road Identified

Dublin, California (March 6, 2022) – The Alameda County Coroner's Office identified the motorcyclist who was killed in a crash on 580 Freeway as 30-year-old Carlos Campo.
The Stockton man was involved in the crash at about 7:50 a.m. Wednesday on 580 Freeway just west of Hopyard Road/Dougherty Road interchange.
According to the California Highway Patrol, Campo was riding a Harley Davidson motorcycle during the morning commute at about 50 mph, splitting lanes between the No. 3 and No. 4.
Reportedly, Campo did not notice slowing traffic ahead and crashed into the rear of a Nissan van traveling in the No. 3 lane between 25-30 mph.
The motorcyclist was ejected from his bike into the No. 2 lane directly into the path of a 2018 International truck and trailer moving at about 55 mph. The big rig ran over the motorcyclist.
First responders pronounced Campo dead at the scene.
The 31-year-old Stockton man driving the van and the 34-year-old Stockton man driving the big rig were not injured.
Police said they do not believe alcohol or drugs contributed to the crash.
An investigation is ongoing.
