Roberto Ordaz-Moralez Injured in Fatal Nevada County Collision on Highway 49 near Alta Sierra Drive

Nevada County, California (March 8, 2022) – Roberto Ordaz-Moralez was injured in a big rig collision that left a 48-year-old Grass Valley Woman dead on Tuesday morning in Nevada county, according to California Highway Patrol.
The collision happened on Highway 49 near Alta Sierra Drive at around 6:25 a.m.
The woman was driving a pickup northbound on Highway 49 when she swerved to avoid a deer but ended up striking it.
The impact pushed the pickup into the southbound lanes, where it collided with an oncoming semi truck transporting medical supplies.

The driver of the pickup was ejected and was pronounced deceased at the scene. Her name has not been released.
Ordaz-Moralez, who was driving the big rig, sustained minor injuries.
Nearly 100 gallons of diesel fuel was spilled from the big rig into a ditch along the roadway.
The crash caused a closure of Highway 49 in both directions as crews worked to clear the scene.
The CHP is investigating the deadly accident.
