Jose Cruz Among 2 Killed in Bakersfield Accident on Highway 33 near Lerdo Highway
Bakersfield, California (March 16, 2022) – One of the two men killed in a traffic collision on Saturday evening in Bakersfield has been identified as Jose Wuilver Rodas Cruz, 22, of Salinas, according to the Kern County Coroner's Office.
The incident happened on Highway 33, just north of Lerdo Highway shortly before 5 p.m. March 12.
According to California Highway Patrol, Cruz was driving north on Highway 33 when he lost control and swerved into the opposite lane, colliding head-on with an oncoming vehicle.

Cruz and his passenger, Mario Gomez Mendoza, 53, of Salinas, were both killed in the accident.
The other motorist was taken to a hospital with moderate injuries.
Further details on the wreck were not immediately available.
The crash is under investigation.
