3 Killed in Tehama County Accident on I-5 Freeway near Bowman Road

Tehama County, California (March 21, 2022) – Three people killed in a car crash in the Cottonwood scales in Tehama County on Sunday morning have been identified.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident happened on Interstate 5, south of Bowman Road at around 1:45 a.m.
CHP said a 16-year-old Ivy Spangle was driving a Kia south on I-5 when he drifted onto the west shoulder and collided with a big rig parked on the side of the road.
Spangle and his passengers, 15-year-old Autumn Craytor and 20-year-old Jordan Verdugo, were killed in the accident.

Another passenger in the Kia, a 21-year-old Red Bluff woman sustained major injuries and was transported to Mercy Medical Center.
The big rig driver, 47-year-old Rodney Hill, of Elk Grove, was unhurt.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
