Anthony Avila ID'd as Rider Killed in Encinitas Motorcycle Crash on Highway 101 near Grandview Street
Encinitas, California (March 22, 2022) – Anthony Louis Avila, 63, of Oceanside has been identified as the man who was killed in a motorcycle collision on Thursday afternoon in Encinitas, the San Diego County Medical Examiner's Office said.
Avila was riding a motorcycle southbound in the No. 2 lane of Highway 101 when he made a left turn into the No. 1 lane to pass a vehicle ahead.
The motorcycle collided with an SUV that crossed into his path from eastbound Grandview Street while trying to make a left turn onto northbound Highway 101.

The collision occurred at around 4 p.m. March 17.
After the initial impact, the motorcycle crashed into a parked vehicle.
Avila was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The authorities are conducting an investigation into the collision.
