Bakersfield, CA: Man Killed in Two-Vehicle Crash at Rosedale Highway and Renfro Road

, California (March 29, 2022) – A two-vehicle collision has claimed the life of a 43-year-old man Monday evening in northwest Bakersfield and left another driver injured, authorities said.

The deadly crash happened at about 6:42 p.m. on March 28 at the intersection of Rosedale Highway and Renfro Road.

According to the California Highway Patrol, a BMW was stopped in the westbound lanes at the intersection of Rosedale and Renfro Road.

As the light turned green, the driver of the BMW rapidly accelerated and lost control of the vehicle, which veered into the eastbound lanes and collided with a Ford.

Both vehicles came to rest just west of the intersection.

Deadly 2-Vehicle Crash at Rosedale Highway and Renfro Road

The BMW driver was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Ford sustained moderate injuries and was transported to Kern Medical.

Intoxication was not suspected to be a factor in the crash, but authorities said the wet road possibly caused the driver to lose control.

No other details regarding the crash were available.

The crash remains under investigation.
