Sandra Gastelum Seriously Hurt in Cuesta Grade Collision on Highway 101

Cuesta Grade, California (April 4, 2022) – Sandra Gastelum, 54, of Santa Maria was seriously injured in a collision that occurred on Sunday morning in Cuesta Grade, according to the CHP.
A 2003 Nissan 350Z and a 2019 Ford Fusion were involved in the wreck on Highway 101 near the Vista de la Ciudad turnoff at around 9:45 a.m. April 3.
CHP said Justin Rodrigues, 18, of Lemoore, was operating the Nissan southbound on Highway 101 when he swerved across the centerline and crashed into an oncoming Ford driven by Sandra Gastelum, 54, of Santa Maria.

Rodrigues was killed in the accident.
Gastelum and a passenger in Rodrigues' vehicle, Kenneth Rocha, 19, were both taken to a hospital for treatment of major injuries.
Drugs and alcohol were not believed to be factors in the collision.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
