Man Killed in Chula Vista Crash on State Route 54 near Highland Avenue
Chula Vista, California (April 8, 2022) – A man trying to change a tire on State Route 54 in Chula Vista was struck and killed by a vehicle on Thursday evening.
According to CHP, the crash happened about 5:50 p.m. April 7, east of Highland Avenue.
CHP said the man was driving a Toyota Scion when it became disabled and he parked it along SR 54.
When he was trying to change the tire, he was hit by a Mazda sedan.

The man was rushed to a hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.
The driver who struck the victim remained at the scene after the accident.
Authorities do not believe alcohol and drugs were factors in the incident.
The crash is under investigation.
