Juan Antonio Fernandez Killed in Kern County Accident on Highway 43 and Pond Road

Kern County, California (April 8, 2022) – 65-year-old Juan Antonio Fernandez has been identified as the Wasco man who died in a traffic collision in Kern County on Thursday afternoon, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The collision happened just after 3:30 p.m., April 8, at Highway 43 and Pond Road.
According to the report, Fernandez was driving a Toyota Corolla westbound on Pond Road when he failed to stop for a stop sign at the intersection and was struck by a Ford Expedition driven by Hanford, Calif., resident Guillermo M. Valera.

Fernandez died at the scene of the accident, according to the Kern County Coroner's Office.
Valera, 57, sustained minor injuries in the crash.
CHP said alcohol and drugs were not suspected to be factors in the incident.
The accident is under investigation.
