Dave Post ID'd as Man Killed in Chula Vista Accident on State Route 54 near Highland Avenue
Chula Vista, California (April 8, 2022) – The man who was fatally struck by a vehicle while trying to change a tire on State Route 54 in Chula Vista Thursday evening has been identified as Dave Post, 22, of San Diego, according to the San Diego County Medical Examiner's Office.
The crash happened at around 5:50 p.m. April 7, east of Highland Avenue.
CHP said Post was driving a Toyota Scion when it became disabled and he parked it along SR 54.
When he was trying to change the tire, the Scion was hit by a Mazda sedan and the impact caused the Scion to strike Post.

CHP said Post was rushed to a hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.
The driver who struck Post stayed at the scene after the accident.
Alcohol and drugs were not believed to be factors in the incident, which remained under investigation.
