Man Killed, Woman Hospitalized after Highway 92 Car Crash in San Mateo County

San Mateo County, California (April 8, 2022) – A man died, and a woman was seriously hurt in a head-on collision that occurred Friday afternoon in San Mateo County, the California Highway Patrol Redwood City Department reported.
The wreck took place at about 4:30 p.m. on eastbound Highway 92 at Canada Road, just west of 280 Freeway.
CHP officers and San Mateo County Sheriff's deputies responded to the scene.
According to a preliminary investigation, a gray BMW was heading westbound on Highway 92, and a red Honda Accord was traveling eastbound on the highway. Authorities said, for reasons still under investigation, the Accord veered into the westbound lane and collided head-on with the BMW.
The driver of the BMW died at the scene. He was only identified as a man in his 30s.
The driver of the Accord was hospitalized at Stanford Medical Center with major injuries. She was only identified as a woman in her 20s.
Officers closed Highway 92 in both directions for about two hours following the crash.
