Laytonville, California (April 14, 2022) – Cody R. Sanderson, 35, sustained major injuries in a deadly collision that happened in Laytonville on Monday afternoon, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The wreck happened at around 2:30 p.m. on April 11, on Highway 101, south of Spy Rock Road.

According to the report, a 2021 Nissan Titan was traveling northbound on Highway 101 when the driver swerved into the southbound side and collided head-on with an oncoming white 2011 Peterbilt tractor-trailer driven by Sanderson.

Cody Sanderson Injured in Laytonville Car Crash 

The Nissan caught fire following the accident and the driver was killed, along with one of the dogs that were in the vehicle.

Sanderson was taken to Howard Memorial Hospital with major injuries.

A second dog in the Nissan was transported to Mendocino County Animal Care Services.

The CHP is investigating the incident.
