Jason Cavanagh Dies in Cabazon Big Rig Crash on 10 Freeway near Main Street On-Ramp

Cabazon, California (April 19, 2022) – Jason Cavanagh, 38, of Newbury Park, has been identified as the man who was killed in a fiery crash involving a big rig early Tuesday morning in Cabazon, the California Highway Patrol reported.
The collision occurred just before 2 a.m. on eastbound 10 Freeway near the Main Street on-ramp.
As per the report, a car that had been involved in a collision was overturned on its side in traffic lanes when a semi-truck crashed into it. The car and the semi's tractor caught fire and got fully engulfed.
A motorcycle was also seen at the Main Street on-ramp to eastbound 10 Freeway, but it was unclear if it was involved in the accident. The driver of the semi was also lying down on the ground at the on-ramp.

Cavanagh died in the crash.
A male party suffered major injuries. The report did not specify if the victims were from the initial or the subsequent collision.
Caltrans responded for a hard closure of eastbound 10 Freeway. Motorists were being diverted off the freeway at Main Street. Main Street on-ramp to eastbound 10 Freeway was also closed.
CHP is investigating to establish the cause of the collision.
