Evelyn Linares Killed, Man Injured in Wrong-Way Crash on 105 Freeway in El Segundo

, California (April 23, 2022) – Authorities are investigating a Saturday morning wrong-way crash that killed a 35-year-old woman from and left a 35-year-old man from seriously injured in El Segundo.

The deadly head-on collision happened at about 1:13 a.m. on the westbound Glenn (105) Freeway east of Nash Street.

According to the California Highway Patrol, a silver 2015 Toyota Camry, driven by 35-year-old Evelyn Linares of Los Angeles, was traveling eastbound in the number one lane when it crashed head-on into a westbound black 2017 Toyota Prius driven by the Manhattan Beach man.

Man Injured in Fatal 105 Freeway Crash

Sadly, Linares was pronounced dead at the scene.

The 35-year-old man from Manhattan Beach sustained major injuries and was taken to Harbor UCLA Medical Center for treatment.

It was not clear if drugs or alcohol played a role in the accident.

Traffic on the roadway was reportedly stopped for about two hours due to the collision.

The crash remains under investigation.
