3 CHP Officers Injured in Downey DUI Crash on Glenn Anderson (105) Freeway at Lakewood Boulevard
Downey, California (April 28, 2022) – Three CHP officers were injured in a crash involving a suspected DUI motorist early Thursday morning near Downey.
According to authorities, the incident was reported at about 1:24 a.m. on the eastbound Glenn Anderson (105) Freeway at the Lakewood Boulevard offramp.
Two officers were inside a patrol vehicle stopped at the scene of an earlier solo vehicle crash while one of them was standing outside.
A civilian driving an SUV reportedly drove through the flare pattern and collided with the patrol vehicle.
The impact caused the cruiser to burst into flames.
CHP Officers Hurt in Downey DUI Crash on 105 Freeway
The officer who was standing outside sustained major injuries, while the other two had moderate injuries. The three officers were taken to a hospital for treatment.
The woman driving the other SUV was taken into custody on suspicion of DUI.
All eastbound lanes of the 105 Freeway were closed as authorities investigated the incident.
The crash remains under investigation..
