3 CHP Officers Injured, Lakia Jackson Arrested in Downey Crash on 105 Freeway at Lakewood Boulevard
Downey, California (April 29, 2022) – Lakia Jackson, 41, was arrested following a suspected DUI crash that left three CHP officers injured early Thursday morning near Downey.
According to authorities, the crash was reported at around 1:24 a.m. on April 28, on the eastbound Glenn Anderson (105) Freeway at the offramp to Lakewood Boulevard.
The officers were at the scene of a solo vehicle accident and one of them was standing outside a patrol cruiser.
Shortly after, an SUV driven by Jackson went through the flare pattern and crashed into the patrol vehicle, which was parked along the freeway.
The cruiser spun clockwise and struck the officer who was outside.

The cruiser also burst into flames following the impact of the crash.
The officer who was standing outside the cruiser suffered major injuries and was rushed by other officers to St. Francis Medical Center in Lynwood.
Two other officers who were inside the cruiser were hospitalized with moderate injuries.
Jackson was placed under arrest and is expected to face DUI charges.
The eastbound lanes of the freeway were shut down as authorities investigated the incident.
The incident remained under investigation.
