1 Killed in Borrego Springs Crash on Borrego Salton Sea Way

Borrego Springs, California (May 6, 2022) – One person was killed when a big rig collided head-on with a pickup truck on Friday morning in Borrego Springs, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The wreck happened on Borrego Salton Sea Way, east of Henderson Canyon just after 11:30 a.m.
A Freightliner commercial vehicle was heading west on Borrego Salton Sea Way when, for unknown reasons, it swerved into the eastbound side and collided head-on with an oncoming GMC pickup truck.

The driver of the pickup, who was not identified, died in the collision.
A 57-year-old Indio man who was a passenger in the pickup was taken to Palomar Medical Center in Escondido with moderate injuries.
The other motorist, identified as a 55-year-old Cherry Valley man, was not injured.
The California Highway Patrol is working to determine the cause of the accident.
