Ahmed Alrawi and Suad Alsamari Killed in Car Accident at Rosecrans St. and Sports Arena Blvd. in Midway District
San Diego, California (May 9, 2022) – 23-year-old Ahmed Mazin Salah Alrawi and 81-year-old Suad Alsamari have been identified as the passengers who were killed in a car crash at an intersection in San Diego's Midway District on Saturday.
The fatal crash happened at around 9 p.m. at Rosecrans Street and Sports Arena Boulevard, according to the San Diego County Medical Examiner's Office.
A Toyota Tacoma was reportedly traveling at a high rate of speed when it struck a raised median, became airborne, and struck a Toyota Sienna that was stopped at a red light at the intersection.
Alrawi and Alsamari both were riding in the Sienna and were killed in the crash.

Two other passengers in the van were hospitalized with unspecified injuries.
The driver of the Tacoma was also taken to the hospital with broken bones among other injuries.
Alsamari was a resident of El Cajon while Alrawi lived in San Diego.
More details about the crash were not provided.
The San Diego Police Traffic Division is investigating the accident.
