1 Seriously Injured in McKinleyville Crash on Highway 101 near Northbank Road

Humboldt County, California (May 18, 2022) – One person was seriously injured in a two-vehicle collision on Wednesday night in McKinleyville.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred on southbound Highway 101 near Northbank Road onramp at around 11:55 p.m.
A Toyota Sequoia and a Dodge Challenger reportedly collided head-on in unclear circumstances.
Officials say the Challenger caught fire after the collision and the driver of one of the vehicles fled the scene on foot.
The suspect was later located and was transported to the hospital for treatment of major injuries.
The second driver was out of the vehicle and the extent of injuries was not immediately established. However, an ambulance was requested.
More details about the accident were not provided.
An investigation into the crash is underway.
