1 Killed in Montclair Crash at Monte Vista Avenue and Mission Boulevard, 2 Arrested
San Bernardino, California (May 20, 2022) – One person was killed in a suspected DUI crash that occurred at an intersection in Montclair on Tuesday.
The deadly collision occurred in the area of Monte Vista Avenue and Mission Boulevard at around 6:57 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.
A white pickup truck was traveling southbound on Monte Vista at a high rate of speed when it reportedly failed to stop at a red light and broadsided a black SUV.
The SUV driver who was the sole occupant of the vehicle was transported to the hospital where they succumbed to their injuries. The identity of the deceased person was not immediately disclosed.
Three occupants of the pickup truck fled the scene after the collision, but the police apprehended two of them.
2 DUI Suspects Arrested after Fatal Crash at San Bernardino Intersection
One of the apprehended suspects was identified as 19-year-old Oswaldo Gutierrez while the other was identified as a 16-year-old boy.
Officers located alcoholic containers, narcotics, ammunition and cash inside the truck. The suspects were charged with several felonies, including DUI, vehicular manslaughter, hit and run, and possession/transportation of narcotics for sales.
More details about the crash were not provided.
An investigation into the accident is underway.
