May is National Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month
May is National Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month, and Pacific Attorney Group would like to remind drivers to share the road responsibly and check twice for motorcycles.
According to the Riverside County Sheriff's Department, motorcyclists are 28 times more likely to die in a traffic collision than the occupants of a vehicle. In 2019, 474 people on motorcycles were killed in California.
Here are some tips to keep in mind while driving or riding to protect yourself and your loved ones.
Motorcycle Riders;
- Keep the bike lights on, even during the day.

- Wear a U.S. DOT-compliant helmet with eye protection.
- Wear leather clothing such as jackets, gloves, pants, and boots with non-skid soles.
- Ensure your clothing has reflective decals or strips so drivers can see you.
Drivers;
- Keep a safe distance when driving behind a motorcycle.
- Always check blind spots and mirrors before changing lanes or making a turn.
