52-Year-Old Jose Caratachea-Valencia Killed in Crash at Elm and North Avenues in Fresno
Fresno, California (May 23, 2022) – The man who died in a suspected DUI accident early Monday morning in Fresno County has been identified as Jose Caratachea-Valencia, 52, of Selma.
At around 2:45 a.m., a 2010 Mercury Grand Marquis was traveling northbound on Elm Avenue at a high rate of speed when it collided with a semi-truck that was driving out of a private driveway onto North Avenue.
Caratachea-Valencia, who was driving the Grand Marquis, was killed in the accident.

CHP said Caratachea-Valencia may have been driving under the influence of alcohol when the crash occurred.
The collision caused a closure of Elm Avenue as crews cleared the scene.
The cause of the collision is under investigation.
