, California (June 5, 2022) – 61-year-old Isidro Marquez has been identified by the Coroner's Office as the man who died after being involved in a collision in a collision on Friday afternoon in Moreno Valley.

The crash was reported at around 3:37 p.m. near the intersection of Lasselle Street and Copper Cove Lane.

Authorities established that Marquez was in a white Toyota Sienna that was traveling southbound on Lasselle when the driver drifted into the opposite lanes and collided head-on with a northbound Ford Escape.

First responders arrived at the scene and found Marquez unresponsive inside the vehicle. The Moreno Valley man was transported to University Health Systems Medical Center where he later succumbed to his injuries.

There were no passengers in either vehicle.

The driver of the Ford sustained minor injuries but declined medical treatment.

Moreno Valley, California (June 3, 2022) – The Riverside County Sheriff's Department is investigating a deadly traffic collision that occurred in Moreno Valley on Friday afternoon.

A red Ford Escape and a white Toyota Sienna were involved in the collision that was reported at around 3:27 p.m. on Lasselle Street and Copper Cove Lane.

According to the report, the Toyota was heading south on Lasselle Street when it drifted into the path of oncoming traffic and collided with the northbound Ford.

Emergency crews responded to the scene and performed lie-saving measures on the driver of the Toyota.

The driver was then transported to a hospital, where they were pronounced deceased.

The other driver suffered minor injuries but declined treatment at the scene.

 Lasselle Street was closed between Alessandro Boulevard and Brodiaea Avenue as authorities worked to clear the scene.

An investigation into the deadly collision is ongoing.

Newly released estimates by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) show that fatalities reached a 16-year high last year.
According to the Early Estimate of Motor Vehicle Traffic Fatalities in 2021 report released by NHTSA, about 42,915 people were killed in traffic collisions in 2021. This shows a 10.5% increase from the 38,828 fatalities reported in 2020.
NHTSA says the projection is the highest number of traffic deaths since 2005 as well as the largest percentage rise in the history of the Fatality Analysis Reporting System.
