Motorcycle Safety Awareness
Pacific Attorney Group would like to remind drivers to share the road responsibly and check twice for motorcycles.
Riders are 28 times more likely to die in a traffic collision than the occupants of a vehicle. In 2019, 474 people on motorcycles were killed in California.
Here are some tips to keep in mind while driving or riding to protect yourself and your loved ones.
Riders
- Keep the bike lights on, even during the day.
- Apply defensive riding. Do not assume drivers can see you, and avoid riding in a driver's blind spot.
- Wear a U.S. DOT-compliant helmet with eye protection.
- Wear leather clothing such as jackets, gloves, pants, and boots with non-skid soles.
- Ensure your clothing has reflective decals or strips so drivers can see you.
Drivers
- Keep a safe distance when driving behind a motorcycle.
- Always check blind spots and mirrors before changing lanes or making a turn.
