John Story, 67, Killed in Santa Ana Bicycle Accident at Bristol Street & Edinger Avenue

Santa Ana, California (June 20, 2022) – John Story, 67, has been identified by the Orange County coroner's office as the bicyclist who died after being struck by a car on Saturday morning in Santa Ana.
At around 8:30 a.m. on June 18, CHP received reports of a bicycle accident at the intersection of Bristol Street and Edinger Avenue.
John was riding his bicycle southbound on Bristol Street when he was struck by a vehicle traveling eastbound on Edinger Avenue.
Bicyclist Killed in Crash in Santa Ana ID'd
The bicyclist was transported to a hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
The motorist remained at the scene of the accident and cooperated with the authorities.
Authorities say there was no indication that speed or intoxication were factors in the accident.
An investigation into the accident is underway.

Santa Ana, California (June 19, 2022) – A 67-year-old male bicyclist was struck and killed by a vehicle in Santa Ana on Saturday morning, according to the Santa Ana Police Department.
The incident took place at Bristol Street & Edinger Avenue at around 8:30 a.m. on June 18.
Police said a 67-year-old man was riding a bicycle southbound on Bristol Street when he was hit by a vehicle heading east on Edinger Avenue at around 8:30 a.m. on June 18.
The rider, whose name was not released, was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.
The driver who hit the cyclist remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigators.
Police are conducting an investigation into the incident.
Traffic Collision Fatalities Reached a 16-Year High in 2021, Early Estimates Show
Newly released estimates by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) show that fatalities reached a 16-year high last year.
According to the Early Estimate of Motor Vehicle Traffic Fatalities in 2021 report released by NHTSA, about 42,915 people were killed in traffic collisions in 2021. This shows a 10.5% increase from the 38,828 fatalities reported in 2020. NHTSA says the projection is the highest number of traffic deaths since 2005 as well as the largest percentage rise in the history of the Fatality Analysis Reporting System.
The report indicates that the traffic fatalities in the following categories showed relatively large increases in 2021, as compared to 2020;
