1 Injured in El Centro Crash on Highway 86 near U.S. Border Patrol

El Centro, California (June 24, 2022) – The California Highway Patrol is investigating a traffic collision that happened Friday morning in El Centro, sending one person to the hospital.
The accident involved a Freightliner Cascadia hauling a Double A trailer and an SUV. The SUV reportedly flipped over in the crash.
Officers received reports of the collision at around 5:21 a.m. on northbound Highway 86, not very far from the U.S. Border Patrol Check.

Firefighters, AMR and at least one deputy from the Imperial County Sheriff's Office responded to the scene.
One of the drivers was transported to Pioneers Memorial Healthcare District with unspecified injuries.
According to the sheriff's deputy, one of the vehicles smelled alcohol, and there were open White Claw cans thrown over the fence line.
Investigators are working to determine if alcohol played a role in the accident.
