Rider Seriously Injured, Driver Arrested after Vista Crash near East Bobier Drive and East Vista Way

, California (June 25, 2022) – Authorities have arrested a 31-year-old hit-and-run driver that injured a rider and two children on Thursday night in Vista, .

According to the San Diego County Sheriff's Department, the accident happened shortly before 8:53 p.m. on June 24 on E. Bobier Driver near the junction of E. Vista Way.

Officials said that a male driver was riding a tan Toyota Camry and was leaving a shopping complex in the 1000 block of E. Bobier Drive when he drove out in front of a motorbike. The motorcycle then crashed into the vehicle, sending the rider flying.

The male Camry driver fled the scene after the accident.

Firefighters and medical personnel arrived and attended to the injured parties. The rider sustained severe injuries and was rushed to Palomar Medical Center.

Three kids ages 8, 6, and 2 were riding in the sedan's rear passenger seat at the time of the collision. Two of them were taken to Rady's Children's Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

Deputies located the Toyota driver two hours after leaving the crash site and confirmed fleeing the location. He was arrested and placed in the Vista Detention Facility for felony hit-and-run, driving without a valid license, and willful child neglect.

An investigation by the Vista Traffic Division is ongoing.
